Template:Awaiting write-up

A friendly notice for pages whose content is compiled automatically from databases but that no person has written up yet. Unlike Template:Incomplete (which flags missing information in a whole page or a single section), this marks a page that has no human-written content at all. It adds the page to Category:Pages awaiting write-up.

To keep quality high, editing is open to approved contributors, so get in touch with an administrator and we will get you set up.

Use article_type= to show wording tailored to what people can add for that kind of article. The message is pulled from a subpage of this template:

• Template:Awaiting write-up/Default -- used when no type is given, or the type has no subpage
• Template:Awaiting write-up/Species -- species profiles

This species profile is awaiting a write-up. The taxonomy, distribution, resources and other data below are compiled automatically from scientific databases, but no one has written about this species yet. If you know this species, you can help by adding:

• a short overview: what it looks like, its basic life history, where it lives, and whether it is of research interest, of conservation concern, or a managed pest
• identification notes: how to tell it apart from similar species
• ecology and behavior: habitat, diet, host plants, life cycle and seasonal timing
• management notes, if it is a pest or of conservation concern

Other parameters: item= (what to call the page in the Default message; defaults to "page"), width= (defaults to 50%), image= (icon file name).

Adding a new article type

1. Create Template:Awaiting write-up/<Type> (e.g. /Geography) with the message, using {{{item|page}}} if it should name the item.
2. Use it with {{Awaiting write-up|article_type=geography}}. To give it its own icon, add it to default_images in Module:Message box.

When to remove it

Once a person has written real content on the page, replace this template with Template:Incomplete if it still needs work, or remove it.
