Template:Binomial redirect review

Purpose

This template flags a species page with a binomial-only title that may need to be redirected to the corresponding compound-name species page.

It is intended for cases where a binomial-only page exists separately from the main forward-facing species page and should be reviewed manually before being converted into a redirect.

This template may be added automatically by the data pipeline or manually when needed.

Parameters

target

Optional. The likely compound-name page that this page should redirect to.

reason

Optional. A short explanation of why the page was flagged.

note

Optional. Additional editor-facing instructions.

Behavior

When transcluded on a page, this template:

• Displays a maintenance message at the top of the page
• Optionally links to the likely redirect target
• Adds the page to Category:Species pages needing maintenance
• Adds the page to Category:Species pages needing binomial redirect

Notes

• This template is for forward-facing species pages, not for template pages.
• Pages in this category should be reviewed manually before redirect conversion.
• Content, images, categories, and links should be checked before removing page content.
