Template:R

Cites one or more references by their ref_id, the stable identifier this wiki's citation pipeline (scripts/11_citation.R) assigns to every entry in the Zotero library. The citation text itself always comes from Zotero via that pipeline -- this template never takes citation text directly.

Each ref_id becomes a numbered footnote marker, rendered via MediaWiki's own Cite extension (== References ==

builds the list at the bottom of the page). Citing the same ref_id more than once on a page -- even from unrelated sections -- automatically collapses to the same footnote number with multiple backlinks, since that's handled by Cite itself.

If a ref_id doesn't resolve (typo, or the reference was removed from Zotero and the wiki hasn't been re-synced yet), the citation spot shows a visible [citation "ref_id" not found] marker and the page is added to Category:Pages with broken citations so it can be found and fixed.
