Brief Summary: Report of a Workshop held in Rome, Italy 28 February to 4 March 2005 to "review the operation of aircraft contracts and the coordination of control activities in order to identify and implement improvements for the 2005 season. Technical, commercial, financial and administrative lessons learned were integrated into an improved FAO contract and associated practices for
aerial survey and spraying Desert Locusts in the Sahel. Most of the improvements should be applicable to other locust-affected regions."
Brief summary: "The After Action Review addressed all the main aspects of Desert Locust control ranging from fund-raising to project implementation, impact assessment and visibility. It included a review of the following topics: Locust forecasts and the alerts/warnings given; action plans and contingency planning; project implementation; funding; donors’ role; Field Program Management Information System (FPMIS); ECLO structure and functioning; coordination at the international, regional, and national levels, including the role of the FAO Representatives (FAORs); procurement and contractual services; training; public relations and communications; and, health, environment and pesticide management."
